MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) – The development of a draft program “Belarusians in the World” is supposed to begin in 2011. The program is aimed at promoting cooperation with the Belarusians that live outside Belarus. The initiative was voiced at the V Congress of the Belarusians of the World in Minsk in 2009. The initiative became part of the action plan meant to implement the initiatives that participants of the forum voiced, representatives of the Belarusian Culture Ministry told BelTA.
The document is supposed to be developed and submitted for consideration of the Council of Ministers in 2011-2012.
In line with the action plan meant to implement the initiatives participants of the forum voiced, an advisory council for affairs of the Belarusians abroad has been set up this year. The first session took place on 25 June. The council includes representatives of public organizations abroad, representatives of Belarusian government agencies, public figures.
The action plan also provides for Belarusian embassies to assist associations of Belarusians in cultural and educational projects, which are meant to popularize the Belarusian culture and language abroad. In 2010-2011 student representatives of the Belarusians abroad are supposed to take part in a contest “Earth is Our Home”. In 2010-2011 a book “Historical and cultural monuments of the Neman basin” will be published with assistance of the educational institution Bialystok Polytechnic. Cooperation between general education institutions in Belarus and abroad will be promoted. Every year representatives of the Belarusians abroad will be invited to celebrate the Belarusian Written Language Day.
Representatives of the Belarusians abroad are supposed to be regular visitors in shows of the satellite TV channel Belarus TV, the First national TV channel, TV channels Lad, ONT, and STV. In addition, the Belarusian abroad will be able to cooperate with Belarusian state-run printed mass media and take part in the international specialized expo “Mass Media in Belarus”.
The Belarusians abroad and Belarusian government agencies will be able to cooperate to retrieve national treasures of the Belarusian people and return them to the motherland.
