MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) - The National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus will be on tour in Estonia from 8 to 13 February, BelTA learnt from the Bolshoi Theater press service.
“Never before have the opera theaters of Estonia and Belarus exchanged tours. Our cooperation with the Estonian company is very important, because we are starting a new chapter in our creative communication,” said Vladimir Rylatko, the first deputy director general of the Bolshoi Theater.
The tour will start with Spartacus by A.Khachaturyan on 8 February, and one-act ballets Tamar by Mily Balakirev and Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov on 9 February. The main parts in the ballet will be played by the main soloists of the company Anton Kravchenko (Spartacus), Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Konstantin Kuznetsov (Crassus) and Irina Yeromkina (Phrygia).
People’s Artist of Belarus Olga Gayko (Zobeida), Denis Klimuk (A Golden Slave) and Oleg Turko (Shahryar) will play the main characters in the eastern fairy-tale Scheherazade. Part of the legendary queen Tamar in the same-named ballet will be played by People’s Artist of Belarus Lyudmila Kudryavtseva; her partners will be Anton Kravchenko (Young Man) and Oleg Turko (Vizier).
Opera part of the Belarusian tour will start on 10 February with the performance Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin in the production of People’s Artist of Russia Yury Aleksandrov. The main parts will be played by the soloists of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus, winners of the international competitions Stanislav Trifonov (Igor), Yekaterina Golovleva (Yaroslavna), Andrei Valenty (Galitsky), Alexey Mikutel (Igorevich), Oksana Yakushevich (Konchakovna), Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Oleg Melnikov (Konchak). Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Nikolai Kolyadko is a conductor.
The tour will conclude with the opera Madam Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini. The characters in this touching musical drama will be created by the soloists of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus, winners of the international competitions Tatiana Gavrilova (Chio-Chio-San), Stanislav Trifonov (Sharpless), Kriskentiya Stasenko (Suzuki). The part of Pinkerton will be played by the soloist of the National Opera of Brno Ivan Shupenich. The conductor is Andrei Galanov.
All in all, more than 200 artists: soloists, chorus and symphony orchestra of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus will take part in the Estonian tour.
“We hope that the Estonian audience will like our productions and will discover our theater for themselves. The fact that the performances have long been sold out says that the interest in the tour in great,” Vladimir Rylatko said.
While on tour in Belarus, the artists of the Estonian National Opera will present the operas Manon Lescaut by Giacomo Puccini and La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi, the ballets Manon by Jules Massenet and The Nutcracker by Piotr Tchaikovsky.
