Belarus and Germany are going to hold a large-scale economic forum in the Federal Republic of Germany in spring 2009, Klaus Mangold, Chairman of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, Federation of German Industry, told reporters after his meeting with Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky on November 16.
Mr Claus Mangold said that the forum is likely to focus on the aspects of the development of the financial sector, metallurgical industry “where Belarus occupies a solid position”. “You also have highly qualified young specialists in the metallurgy what is of great interest for Germany,” he said. According to Claus Mangold, after the forum a big German delegation will be formed to visit Belarus in H2 2009.
The Chairman of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations and the Prime Minister of Belarus discussed the situation of the economic development in Belarus and privatization issues. “If these processes continue in Belarus, your country will see Germany as your serious partner. Privatization in Belarus will attract a great volume of investments together with innovations and new jobs,” Mr Claus Mangold said.
