German company Gigaset Communications GmbH may start producing DECT phones in Belarus, Gigaset Vice President for Sales Godehard Gerling told a press conference in Minsk on December 11.
“If there is a good market and good competition environment and we can start manufacturing, we will consider the possibility. Belarus is a good place for implementing such a project,” he said. The official added, the company has made the first step onto the Belarusian market. Gigaset and Svyazinformservice have started selling DECT phones and offering their servicing. “We will cooperate more tightly” if the economic conditions allow it.
Member of the Svyazinformservice Board of Directors Mikhail Litvinko remarked, the company may start manufacturing Gigaset phones as part of the cooperation. It will depend on how well the product sells.
He also said, the capacity of the Belarusian market of DECT phones is close to 6.5 million. “In 2-3 years we intend to take around 30% of the Belarusian market of cordless phones,” said Mikhail Litvinko.
Belarus is the 70th country Gigaset has come into. Earlier Gigaset was part of Siemens Home and Office Communication GmbH & Co. The company designs, manufactures, and distributes Gigaset Siemens products, including cord phones, IP phones, DSL and WiMAX routers and gateways, home media products as well as software solutions for service providers and consumers.
