MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) – A Qatari investor will put about $170 million into the construction of a multifunctional complex in Pobeditelei Avenue in Minsk, Director of Investment Company Falcon (construction project owner) Mr Thani A. Rahman al-Kuwari said at a roundtable session during the Minsk Investment Day on 15 November, BelTA has learnt.
The facility will be built along the Svisloch River near the Football Manege. The complex will include a sports center and a hotel with the associated infrastructure, utilities and transport. The hotel will have 125 rooms, including a presidential suite and VIP suites, two restaurants for 175 seats and 70 seats, a bar and a club.
The sports arena (60,000 square meters large) will provide facilities for playing volleyball, basketball and handball. It will be able to seat up to 2,200 viewers. The complex will also boast a conference hall, a press center, locker rooms, and massage parlors. The upper section of the arena will be turned into a movie-theater with seven screens and 640 seats. One of the halls will boast 5D technologies. There will also be facilities for playing ping-pong, squash and bowling, as well as a three-level parking for 245 cars and an open car park.

The facility is to be commissioned by the 2014 ice hockey championship. The project will be financed using own and borrowed funds of the Armed Forces of the State of Qatar.
“Total investments into the project are estimated at $170 million, including VAT; the construction of the foundation of the major facility is nearing completion,” Thani A. Rahman al-Kuwari said.
