MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) – Maputo Province, Mozambique is interested in establishing cooperation with Belarus, primarily in food production. The statement was made by Maputo Province Governor Maria Jonas as she met with Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Valentin Rybakov on 20 May. The Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus was in Mozambique on a visit, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told BelTA.
The meeting took place as part of the permanent expo and fair of Belarusian machines and equipment in the city of Maputo. The fair uses premises of the Belarusian-Mozambican joint venture BelAfrica Ltd. The Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister made a speech during the opening ceremony of the fair. Valentin Rybakov also held negotiations with representatives of Mozambican business circles.
While in Mozambique the Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister is expected to meet with Mozambican Prime Minister Alberto Vaquina, top executives of the Foreign Ministry, the Industry and Commerce Ministry, the Agriculture Ministry, the Defense Ministry, the Union of Businessmen and the Agricultural Development Fund of Mozambique.
The Belarusian delegation also includes Ambassador of Belarus to South Africa (with concurrent accreditation to Angola, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Namibia) Andrei Molchan, Director General of OAO Promagroleasing Pavel Krupnov, representatives of Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark), OAO Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark), and OAO Amkodor.
