MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) – Members of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Maisyuk and Anna Onishchuk will take part in the monitoring of the constitutional referendum in Moldova, BelTA learnt from Anna Onishchuk.
The Belarusian MPs will monitor the referendum as part of the CIS observation mission. The Belarusian parliamentarians will stay in Moldova from 3 to 7 September. They will arrive in Chisinau on 4 September to join the CIS observation mission. The executive staff of the mission will work out their schedule.
The mission includes 61 accredited observers, including representatives of eight CIS member states, the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State and the CIS Executive Committee.
The Moldovan referendum will be a nationwide referendum on whether or not the country should amend the constitution to return to direct popular election of president. The referendum is going to be held on September 5, and if it is successful, presidential elections would be held at the same time as parliamentary elections in November 2010.
