Sudan President shows interest in high-level dialogue with Belarus
MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Sudan on concurrent Igor Fisenko presented credentials to President of Sudan Omar Hassan al-Bashir on 22 May, BelTA learnt from the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.
The official ceremony was followed by talks between the Belarusian diplomat and the President of Sudan. The parties considered the results of bilateral cooperation over the recent years, mainly in the trade and economic sector, and discussed approaches to cooperation in other areas. The head of state expressed gratitude to Belarus for support of Sudan’s efforts in reaching stability in the country and showed interest in continuing the high-level dialogue.
The diplomat also met with Chairman of the National Assembly of Sudan Ahmed Ibrahim El Tahir, who expressed readiness to resume the invitation for Belarusian MPs to pay a return visit to Sudan. Igor Fisenko held talks with Oil Minister of Sudan, Co-Chairman of the joint Belarus-Sudan intergovernmental commission Awad Ahmad Al Jaz, Sudan Presidential Adviser Nafi Al Nafi, Foreign Minister Ali Ahmed Karti, Secretary General of the Taxation Chamber of Sudan Abdullah Mossad.
The Belarusian diplomat also met with Sudanese businessmen. The parties discussed the ways of further expansion of bilateral cooperation in various areas, including the prospects of setting up assembling of Belarusian tractors in Sudan.
