ASTANA, 14 November (BelTA - KAZINFORM) – Laureates of Kazakhstan’s national award Person of the Year in the nomination State Policy are President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, and President of Russia Vladimir Putin. The leaders of the three countries have been awarded for their contribution to creating the EurAsEC and the Customs Union, BelTA has learned.
In the telegram sent to the expert council and laureates President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed his gratitude for being awarded and remarked that the victory of the leaders of the Customs Union member states once again underlined the importance of Eurasian integration.
“Rendering a noticeable influence on the economic and social development of our countries, the association has proved its high effectiveness in practice,” reads the telegram.
Nursultan Nazarbayev is confident that further development of the Customs Union will contribute to the wellbeing of citizens of Kazakhstan, Russia, and Belarus.
The national award Person of the Year was instituted by the Russian Biographic Institute in 1993. It is designed to laud achievements in areas of strategic importance such as science, culture, state administration, socially responsible business, charity, and enlightenment.
In the past the award was bestowed upon Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Alexy II, writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn, academician Zhores Alferov, heart surgeon Leo Bokeria, and other prominent public figures, researchers, heads of major enterprises.
