BelTA News Agency (BelTA) is the biggest information agency in the Republic of Belarus. For over 90 years now, BelTA has been the official national information provider. Today, it remains the most authoritative source of the up-to-date information on the activities of the supreme government bodies of Belarus.

The agency was founded on December 23, 1918. For a long time, BelTA was working in close contact with the Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union (TASS), being, at the same time, an independent legal entity.

BelTA delivers live news coverage in Russian, Belarusian, English, German and Spanish through its web page. BelTA is the only state-run on-line news provider offering information in the Belarusian language.

Every day, BelTA provides 150 to 170 news items covering the major political, social, economic, cultural and sports events in the country, reporting on Belarus’ international affairs and initiatives undertaken by various domestic public organisations and political movements. Every year, BelTA newswire serves as feedstock for around 15 daily, weekly and monthly thematic reviews.

BelTA also provides photo reports covering 20 to 25 themes – this is over 100 snapshots illustrating life in all corners of Belarus.

BelTA has a network of offices and its own correspondents in all major Belarusian cities, in Moscow, Kyiv, Chiєinгu, Warsaw, Vilnius and Caracas.

BelTA delivers news to more than 700 customers across the world. BelTA co-operates with numerous information agencies in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Armenia and the other CIS member states, as well as in China, Cuba, Iran, Malaysia, South Korea.

BelTA is among the most quoted news agencies in the CIS.

BelTA is a diversified company. BelTA products include the weekly 7 Dnei (7 Days), which circulation approaches 40,000 copies, and Economy of Belarus Magazine, a quarterly in Russian and English, with the audience of 6,500 readers. Moreover, BelTA publishes books, brochures, posters, booklets and other promotional materials.

BelTA designs and provides technological and information support, as well as promotion, for the web pages of the government bodies, manufacturing enterprises and organisations.
